Kidding you!!!! It's a catchy title though, isn't it?
Over two decades ago (for those of you with minimal vocabulary interpretation, that is 20 years ago) :), I attended a very small local church that was started via a man who was led via the Lord to come to this part of town and start this church.
The church was so small, that there were only about 40 members and they congregated in rented out space within a strip mall. (No, a strip mall is not a place where women dance nude on a stage!!!) The young husband and wife who started this church were filled with the Holy Spirit. All of the years I have known them, with their hearts, they truly tried to help people to live a right life with God via His scriptures of the holy bible. This was and is a non-denominational church and its quintessential value and purpose is to help each and every human to have a personal relationship with Jesus. It is on the order of a Baptist church and at times a little excited similar to a pentecostal church. Always though the emphasis is on a personal relationship with Jesus, with a continual growing in the knowledge and interpretation of God's word.
This church, which had a mere 40 members just over 20 years ago, is now one of the largest churches in America. How large is it? If you were to drive down the street in which the church is currently located, you would drive perhaps a half mile and still be on the church grounds. The church property is about 10 city blocks long and large enough to land a 747 commercial jet on the property.
I do not know how many members there are, but it's in the tens of thousands and they have hundreds of workers to keep the whole organization together. I know the heart of the lead pastor of the church and I am certain they still share the fundamental belief that it is all about a personal relationship with Jesus as the most important thing to have during YOUR life on planet earth and through out eternity.
Jesus was and is Jewish. It is interesting though how Jewish people are not typically Jews for Jesus. There is an organization with just that title though, Jews For Jesus. In my church attending days, I knew of two cool guys who were Jews for Jesus. They were quite radical dudes and did not seem to worship the Lord in the same manner as those Christians who were born into Christian families and were Christians from the get go.
As our church was getting larger, we had the money to now and then have guest bands who would travel the country and come and play their music at churches. One such band was a messianic band via the name Lamb. In the post next to this post, I added Shakira's song Objection, which is a very radical and beautiful song in my opinion. When I first heard Lamb play their music live at our church, it had the same radical crispness and beauty as Shakira's song does. The instruments were crisp and vivid. They were unusual instruments that you never heard in a typical rock n roll band. I felt like I was observing a NYC Broadway play orchestra, that is how good they were.
I am gonna share with you a song or two of Lamb. Lamb's originator and lead singer is a man via the name of Joel Chernoff. His music is very beautiful and expressive from the heart.
