Living in a 6' x 8' Prison Cell.......

Due to it being a rainy day yesterday and today seems to be following that suit, I kinda stayed in the house all day.  I had no real obligation to go out side, so I just went with the flow and did things inside.  I watched cable TV and had my choice of perhaps 600 channels to choose from.  I sat at this computer and via Google, You Tube and the entire internet, I could search any thing in the world that my heart desired.

Phil Spector was found guilty of shooting Lana Clarkson in her mouth with his gun.  He will spend the rest of his life in a 6' x 8' prison cell.  I don't know if Phil is on one of those programs where he must remain in his cell 23 hours a day and only gets one hour a day out of the cell and a shower every other day?  However, there are those unfortunate souls who are in prison for life and do spend 23 hours of every day in a cell that is 6' x 8'.

On an added note of weirdness, Phil is like 5' 5" tall and Lana is 6' 1".  I know he was a wealthy man, a multi-millionaire and Lana was a struggling actress working in a bar on the side for some extra $$$.  I guess the hopes of $$$ and advancement was a social motivation in this one......

The home I live in is not extravagant via any means.  A modest 2/2 with perhaps a thousand square feet.  My one bath room is perhaps 6' x 8' and despite staying with in the house the past couple of days, I had full rein of the house.  I could walk into a couple different bed rooms, go watch TV.  Then go sit on the balcony a little while and watch the rain and feel the weather related breezes.  I could cuddle a pet.  I could pick up the phone and chat with family or a friend.  I could not even begin to imagine what living in a 6' x 8' cell 23 hours a day, day in and day out for months or years must feel like.

I have a friend.  His name is Charlie.  I often refer to him as old man Charlie, because he is now 84 years old.  Charlie lives on his 21 foot sail boat.  On anchor, in a beautiful tree lined tranquil environment.  The interior cabin space of Charlies boat is perhaps around 6' x 8'.  Charlie feels that he is living in a tropical paradise and if you live vicariously through me and trust the words that I am now sharing with you, Charlie believes and feels that he is living an idealistic epitome life.  His eye sight is failing though and he is legally blind.  30 feet away he can only see shadows and even 5 feet away he can only recognize the silhouette  of the person speaking to him and if not for recognition of their voice, he would not know they were there.

A big fear of Charlie is to have to give up his freedom of living on his 21' sail boat and have to move on to land to live in a nursing home.  Despite Charlie basically living in a 6' x 8' environment, it is totally different than living in a 6' x 8' prison cell.  Why?  Because Charlie has all the potential freedom of the world and the man living in a 6' x 8' prison cell does not.

John Lennon, the member of the Beatles, was intentionally, premeditately shot dead  just over 20 years ago.  Believe it or not, the man who shot him dead, Mark David Chapman,  has been up for parole a few times.  He has been denied parole each time, but I find it amazing that he even has the possible option of once again walking planet earth a free man.

The Beatles wrote a song via the name Helter Skelter which exemplifies some of the craziness of life.  I think perhaps it was written via the craziness of the whole Charles Manson murder of Sharon Tate gig.

Life is a perpetual process of good and evil.  It appears that the world revolves around human life.  The most unidealistic manner of living, other than being physically tortured, would be that of having to spend all your remaining years of life confined to an area that is 6' x 8'.  I guess it could be worse, it could be an area that is 6' x 6' !    :(
